Description

Coffee (Coffea arabica)

Grow your own coffee beans, glossy green foliage, attractive evergreen shrub for sub-tropical and protected temperate climates .. north Qld to Vic. Plants must be grown in frost-free areas.

There are several main species of coffee, the finest quality being Arabica, which originated in the highlands of Ethiopia and represents around 60% of the world’s coffee production.

The coffee bean is the seed of the coffee plant, found inside a red fruit often called the cherry. Each cherry contains two seeds (beans) surrounded by a membrane called the parchment and a layer of sweet pulp.

Coffee requires fertile well-drained soil in a sheltered position for optimal growth. Plants can be kept in pots and they make a beautiful indoor foliage plant. Plants flower in late spring with the fruit ripening in winter.

Harvested berries may be processed in two ways; either by drying and removing the husk or by fermentation then cleaning and drying

These trees are 4-6 months old, 15-20cm tall.

Please note we cannot send trees to WA or NT due to state quarantine restrictions.

We only send trees early in the week to help ensure they arrive at their destination before the weekend.
