Description

Our Macadamia A4 trees are grown from mature wood cuttings and come into bearing in their 2nd or 3rd year. Macadamia A4 (Macadamia tetraphylla x integrifolia) is an outstanding Australian variety developed by Hidden Valley Plantations in the 1980’s. It is very precocious tree that can produce commercial yields in three years. It is a medium spreading tree with an open canopy.

The trees are 12-14 months old, 70-90cm tall are sun hardened and ready to plant into the ground or a large pot.

Macadamias grow best in warm, frost-free areas and like a well-drained soil enriched with compost. Gardeners in cool climates who are keen to try growing a macadamia should protect the young tree from frost for the first few years.

A4 trees are self-pollinating, low maintenance and produce an abundance of delicious crisp nuts in Autumn/ Winter. Macadamias will fall to the ground when they are mature so the best time to harvest the nuts is as soon as they drop. This should be between March and August with the majority falling in May and June.

If the nuts haven’t dropped naturally by Spring, you can remove them from the tree manually and they will still be mature and tasty.

The trees are 12-14 months old, 70-90cm tall are sun hardened and ready to plant into the ground or a large pot. Advanced trees are available for pickup fro the nursery direct. Please contact us for more details.
We only send early in the week to help ensure they arrive at their destination before the weekend.

Please note: due to quarantine restrictions plants cannot be sent to Northern Territory, Tasmania or Western Australia.
