Pink Lady Apple also known as Cripps Pink is the most popular of the recently developed apple varieties in Australia. With a pink skin a green blush they apples have juicy crisp flesh with a great flavour that is sweet but well balanced.
Although self- pollinating to a certain degree, to achieve optimal yields, Pink Lady is best planted near another compatible variety for cross-pollination. Ideal companions for Pink Lady apple trees are Granny Smith and Red Delicious
Pink Lady is regarded as a medium chill variety and will grow well in both medium chill and high chill climate.. See our guide to check if your local climate is suitable for medium chill apples Guide to Chilling Hours in Australia
Our grafted apple trees are 60 to 80 cm tall, sun hardened and ready to plant into the ground or a large pot… these are not bare root trees, they are grown in pots and have a well established root system.
The trees are grafted onto a selected dwarfing rootstock (MM106 or Northern Spy). They will grow to less than half the size of a regular tree but produce fruit that is the same size and quality.
Pruning, spraying and harvesting is much easier to manage dwarf apple trees and they often come into regular bearing earlier than the standard counterpart. Initially they grow at much the same rate but once the dwarf trees get around 1.5m they begin to slow down and settle into maturity.
Please note: due to quarantine restrictions plants cannot be sent to Northern Territory, Tasmania or Western Australia.
