Description

Our grafted  Bonza Nashi Pear (Pyrus pyrifolia) trees are 60 to 80cm tall, sun hardened and ready to plant into the ground or a large pot… these are not bare root trees, they are grown in pots and have a well established root system.

Bonza is a specialised low chill, sub-tropical Nashi pear variety suited to climates that have mild winters. They are the best choice for warmer parts of QLD and NSW. They require very little winter chill and will fruit well from Sydney to Cairns. These trees can also grow well in colder areas but late spring frosts may affect fruit set.  Nashis trees are vigorous growing, upright trees that are decidious us in winter.

Bonza is a sweet  Nashi  hybrid pear with semi rounded fruits similar to a Nashi in shape.   The best time to harvest  is when the skin is still slightly green and allowing the fruit to ripen to yellow.

Bonza is self-fertile but  can be used to  pollinate the other Nashi/Pear varieties.

Best grown in well drained fertile soil..  left unpruned trees will reach 4 to 5m. Suits full sun or light shade.  They make great screens and imformal hedges.

Please note: due to quarantine restrictions plants cannot be sent to Northern Territory, Tasmania or Western Australia.
