Description

Koroneiki is a high yielding olive tree that comes into bearing in its 2nd or 3rd year. It produces a small fruit (1-2g) that is primarily used for oil production but the fruit can also be pickled as a “snack olive”. Oil quality is exceptional with a high polyphenol content. It ripens mid/late season. Originating from the island of Crete it performs well in both cool and warm climates.

Also known in Greece as Tiny Kalamata it is highly self -fertile and suitable for hedgerow cultivation, often being planted with arbequina and arbosana in high density groves. The small size fruit makes harvesting more labor intensive.  It is an attractive compact tree and is very suitable for growing in a large pot.

We suggest that initially you plant the olive trees into larger pots and grow them on for three to four months before planting in the garden. In the pots, we recommend only using premium potting mix with some added controlled release fertilizer (Osmocote/ Nutricote etc). Garden soil is not suitable for use in pots.
Once the plants reach around 40 cm tall they are ready to plant in the garden, you will need to keep weeds away from the tree and initially water every couple of days or so to ensure that the roots are kept moist. Mulching around the plant and protecting it with a tree guard is recommended.

We only send tree early in the week to try and ensure they arrive at their destination before the weekend.

Please note: due to quarantine restrictions plants cannot be sent to Northern Territory, Tasmania or Western Australia.
